Mary Wanjiku fell in love with soccer while still young .
At the age of seven years she joined Mavitu Football academy in Thika.
At the time her mother was so skeptical about her football career however her father was very supportive as She pursued her passion.

Her Soccer Dream
The former Thika Queens star says she was actively involved in soccer while in Primary School,
however after joining high school it become difficult to actively play football

Professional Soccer
Immediately after completing Her Secondary School Education 2011 , She joined Thika Queens a team that was in the Premier League,

After a while she joined Thika Rangers and later joined Makolanders Ladies Fc .
While at Makolanders Ladies Fc ,She got a chance to play street soccer and joined the National street soccer team.

Pregnacy and Delivery
Around 2020 Mary won a scholarship to join Allen community college In Kansas
At the time, the Thika Rangers star was expectant, She communicated with her then coach that she was willing to travel after delivery.
But that was not to be the case since the aggressive soccer star delivered via caesarean section which meant a longer period outside the pitch.

Currently Mary takes part in different football tournaments around Thika and Nairobi .
”saa hii nacheza tournament mtaani na wazae but bado tunashinda ma trophys mtaani . Bado najituma ata kama nilipata mtoi” Says Mary
She says after covid-19 most female players were unable to pursue their soccer dream for various challenges especially lack of support ,
”Nataka ku encourage madem wasi loose hope,.after covid nawaona tu mtaani .mimi bado nakagusa ata kama nilipata mtoi ” says the former street soccer player
She hopes her journey encourages ladies pursuing a career in football.
