He spoke to Ghetto Radio in Kangemi and situation is not that good.
“We were terribly affected by floods. No house no place to call home. The government’s abrupt announcement that the children are opening tomorrow got us unprepared. No fees, no learning materials no money. It’s hard. We need help.” Rachael said.

Cs Machogu on Reopening

Meanwhile education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu maintains that the government will not push the dates again and it’s considering ways to ensure the lost time during floods is recovered.

“Particularly for Form Four candidates, we will see how we can recover time lost by extending [the second term by] a few days. They were expected to close for three weeks in August and we might minimise the number of days schools will be closed, The examination calendar remains the same; KCSE and KPSEA will be taken in the normal time from November. What we are getting from the experts is that we won’t have as much rain as we have had before. If anything, the situation is only improving all over the country,’’ Machogu said.
