• Gikomba traders in Solidarity area were vacated
  • They Claim Sakaja and Petit are grabbing the area
  • Call to the President to intervene

Traders plying their trade in Gikomba market, Solidarity section, are still up in arms after their structures were demolished by Nairobi County Government to pave way for the construction of a new Fire brigade station.

According to traders, they were not given notices prior to the demolition, and they have not been compensated even though there is a court case on the demolition of structures during the April floods.

The traders now say they have nowhere to eke a living.

Gikomba Gen Z plan to Protest

Some of the young Gikomba traders say they inherited the businesses from their parents, and are now supporting the weekly Gen Z protests, with their anger towards Nairobi Governor, Johnson Sakaja and their area MCA, Pumwani Ward MCA Paul Ndungu aka Petit.

No Compensation but relocation

Solidarity Open air market Chairman John Kimani says they want President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua to convene and help them be relocated.

“Compensation will not solve our burdens, we want to continue with our trade where we have been for more than decade”, adds Mr. John
