Security was beefed up in Nairobi CBD early Tuesday morning amid the anticipated Gen z peaceful protest that happened today.

In a memo released early this week, the protesters had called on everyone to come out and join the nationwide demo.

Despite President  William Ruto conceding  against the finance bill 2024, citizens had vowed to air their voices in the streets and match to IPOA to present their grievances against police brutality and the massive killing of residents in Mathare and Rongai, afterwards issue a peaceful notice of Sabasaba this coming Sunday.

“When I came into office,I said there will be no extra-judicial killings in Kenya and I have made sure that there are no extra –judicial killings in Kenya,”President Ruto said.

In a statement issued to the press by the President during the round table debate on Sunday, he reminded citizens that he had made a promise to the people of Kenya that there would be no extra judicial killings and also made sure that there are no extra judicial killings.

 Youth Not Satisfied

 

According to netizens, they were not satisfied by the President’s response during the round table debate with Linus Kaikai of Royal Media Services, Eric Latiff of Standard Group and Joe Ageyo of Nation Media Group.

They viewed the president as someone who lies to citizens and was hard pressed to defend the National Police over brutality against citizens.

According to the youth, The president was more concerned about the 2.4 billion  property that was destroyed during Thursday’s peaceful protest which included the office of the Chief Justice that was burnt down, City Hall and the National Parliament by protesters.

Several unarmed protesters were killed by police officers both in uniform and in civilian clothes last Thursday. This raised a concern and made Kenyans to be more angered forcing them to hold meetings against the brutal killing on X space.

Among those shot in their homestead was a 12 year old boy from Rongai.

“I am telling every parent, I have kids like they do and I care when there are issues in town where criminals can take advantage of situations and create a situation where police have to use rubber bullets, the police have to use live bullets in some cases because that is what an independent police service do and am sure that the police have a record and explanation for every incident that they were engaged in.” Ruto asserted.
