May was a month of mixed fortunes for SJAK FC as they lost two back-to-back matches against former national football team players led by former French Ligue 1 side Auxerre striker Dennis Oliech then later went down to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) staffers.

Former Kenyan international, Dennis ‘The Menace’ Oliech, was on target as Ex-Harambee Stars downed Kenya Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) FC, 2-0 in the curtain raiser of the 2024 Europe Day.

Nicholas Muyoti was the first to find the net for the winners in the see-saw opening half where the scribes’ missed chances by a whisker during the finals.

SJAK President James Waindi assured that the scribes association will continue to engage in such high-profile

Fixtures, with another cutthroat battle looming against Football Kenya Federation at the Dandora Stadium on Saturday morning.

“This game played today was an inspiration to these upcoming footballers who have reached the finals. It gave the young participants a chance to meet their childhood heroes like Oliech who was very prolific for Kenya in his hey-days,” European Union Ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger highlighted.

Winners of the Europe Day Kenya Football tournament will get an opportunity to represent the country in a global sports extravaganza slated for Romania later in the year.

In the second friendly match against FKF staff at the Dandora Stadium, SJAK FC who looked lively in the Opening minutes ended up losing 8-0, thanks to the experienced FKF side that boasts the services of former International players like Stephen Ocholla, Ken Odhiambo, Jerry Santos and Anthony Kimani.
