According to Terence’s brother, their mother was a great fan of Martin Lawrence and named her son after him.

He added that right from his childhood, Terence was fun to be with due to his comical nature.

However, never in their wildest dreams did they see him becoming the celebrated entertainer that he is today.

This was also because they lived in the ghetto and rising out of the shackles of poverty was only a pipe dream.
