TotalEnergies is hosting the 2024/2025 edition of the Startupper of the Year Challenge, following the success of previous editions.

The company aims to support and reward young Kenyan entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 who have a business creation project or a startup under three years old.

A local jury of experts, business leaders, startup ecosystem participants, local sustainability stakeholders, and TotalEnergies Kenya representatives will select three winners.

Recognizing Innovation and Sustainability

In celebration of TotalEnergies’ centennial, the Challenge will recognize 100 entrepreneurs across the continent, awarding them in three categories:

Innov’Up for the best entrepreneur, Cycle’Up for the best circular economy project, and Power’Up for the best sustainable and affordable energy project.

An international jury will also select four additional projects in the Power’Up category.

Projects will be evaluated based on relevance to sustainable development, innovation, feasibility and development potential, and respect for gender equality and inclusion of women.

Awards and Benefits for Winners

Each winner in the three main categories will be named “Startupper of the Year by TotalEnergies” and receive a monetary award of Kshs1,650,000, personalized support, and a communication campaign to enhance their project’s visibility.

Winners will also promote their projects at a celebratory event. TotalEnergies Kenya MD Eric Fanchini emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and socio-economic development in African countries.

The Challenge has supported 365 winners from 40,000 applications worldwide since 2015.
