In Summary
  • UCL Final on June 1 at Wembley, London.
  • Dortmund is heading to the final with five injured players, and Madrid has two.
  • Real Madrid’s hot form places them as the favorites.

Borussia Dortmund are set to host Real Madrid in the arguably most anticipated football event of the year, the UEFA Champions League final match, in London’s Wembley Stadium.

The event that will take place on June 1 will mark the end of the 2023–2024 season for both Dortmund and Madrid.

Despite making it to the UCL finals, Dortmund have had a comparatively poor run at home, finishing 5th in the domestic league. On the flip side, Real Madrid have had one of their best seasons in the club’s history, finishing the 23–24 season unbeaten.

Borrusia Injury Update

Heading into the finals, Dortmund are more disadvantaged considering that five players in the squad are injured. While Madrid will miss the services of injured Alaba and Tchoumeni, the long list of Bamba, Sebastien Haller, Drunaville, Kamara, and Ramy Bansebaini will not be available in the service of Dortmund.

However, the Blacks and Yellows should not be written off since they qualified for the Finals by merit, hence the need for the Los Blancos to prepare tenaciously.

“I think that there is no team that deserves to be in this final more than us,” Dortmund’s club boss, Sebastian Kehl, stated as he showered praise on Edin Terzic’s squad.

The Germans indeed have what it takes to upset the Spanish giants, but respect for Madrid, led by Italian “Master Tactician” Carlo Ancelotti, should totally not be questioned; Ancelotti’s calmness in tough situations has always steered him towards greatness.

Real Madrid are aiming for their 15th UCL title, eight clear of AC Milan, hence further establishing their European supremacy.

Between the two football powerhouses, where do you place your bet?
