Woodley Member of County Assembly Davidson ‘DNG’ Ngibuini claims forty-three people are behind Toi Market fire. The land cartel claim land ownership of where Toi Market sits.
‘’It is with sadness that I write my official statement on arson executed against Traders at Toi Market at about 1am on Sunday 11th June 2023. Toi Market was razed to the ground by an inferno caused by arsonists who think they can push out traders from this iconic market and take over this piece of land” DNG on his socials.

The Arson Attack.

Reports according to DNG reveal that there are 43 unscrupulous characters who allege that they ‘own’ the Toi Market land. In their possession are 43 fake title deeds and are being treated as first suspects.
“The arsonists must be tracked down, apprehended and brought to book. Our criminal justice system must prevail”. Said a pensive DNG.
Traders lost goods worth millions of Kenya shillings in the raging fire, rendering people jobless. In the name of greed and land fraud, livelihoods that depended on the market trade have been affected.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Toi Market is public land held under the custody of the Nairobi City County Government on behalf of the traders”, DNG reaffirmed asserting that Toi Market land is not for sale and will not be allocated to any individual.
“I would like to make it clear to anyone who thinks they can terrorize our people and grab public land that they have attacked the wrong Ward. Land Grabbing will not be accepted in Woodley/Kenyatta Golf Course Ward under my watch” He promised.

Relief for the Traders
The leadership, Governor Sakaja and DNG assured the traders that they will not lose Toi Market to land cartels. They have also began mobilizing relief to help traders rebuild.

He called upon The National Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to undertake a thorough assessment and inquiry immediately.
“This must be the last time Toi Market burns”, he assured the traders.
