Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve, who was allegedly shot by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino at a Nairobi club in 2020, has told the court that he did not see the legislator with a firearm on the said day.
The DJ was giving his testimony before Senior Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi as defence witness in a misuse of firearm case against the MP.
While testifying virtually from his bed, Evolve told court that legislator was his long term friend and they did not have any squabble with each other.
He said that he cannot remember what happened, since he regained consciousness and found himself in an ambulance.

Lost memory on shooter
He further admitted to the Nairobi court that he was indeed shot and injured by a bullet on the fateful day, but that he does not know who had shot him.
“I was injured by a bullet but I don’t know from which gun…I just found myself in a vehicle to hospital…I came to find out that Babu Owino was supporting me and as a friend I expected my friends to look after me.”
“I received medical care…my utilities and general well-being was taken care of…I’m giving out this testimony voluntarily,” he added.
The Embakasi East legislator’s private protection officer and personal assistant Edwin Gendi also gave his testimony, also told the court that before a day before alleged shooting incident, Babu’s s firearm jammed at the shooting range.
Babu Owino last week revealed to court that he has so far so spent over Ksh 50 million in treating and taking care of all of DJ Evolve’s expenditures.
