Customs officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport arrested a 25-year-old Kenyan woman and recovered cocaine worth millions dissolved in two whisky bottles, a senior customs official has confirmed.  

The accused was intercepted at the Airport after her arrival from Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) .

Officials says, a detailed search resulted in the recovery from her of two whisky bottles with cocaine

After further interrogation , officials say that the two bottles were handed over to her at Nairobi airport.

”She was supposed to hand over them to a person in Delhi,” the official said.

This is the second arrest of Kenyan nationals in Indian over suspicion of drug trafficking within a week. Another woman was also arrested on June 15 at the same airport while carrying cocaine also concealed in whiskey bottles.

The passenger was produced before a local court that has sent her to 14 days’ judicial custody.

On their twitter page Delhi customs reveals  ,she has been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of India.

‘’On the basis of specific input, AirCustoms@IGIA has seized 2537 gms Cocaine concealed in 3 whiskey bottles valued at 38.055 Cr from a Kenyan woman pax who arrived via Addis Ababa. Pax has been arrested under NDPS Act.’’

A couple of months ago another Kenyan woman was detained by Hong Kong authorities for smuggling 1 kilogram of a narcotic substance believed to be cocaine into the Chinese city, the narcotic substance was concealed inside her body.
