The residents of Mukuru kwa Reuben have opposed a 48-hour evacuation notice issued by the government.

They termed the notice and subsequent demolition structures on the riparian land not only unrealistic but also inhumane.

According to a resident who spoke to Ghetto Radio, the ongoing demolitions are not only untimely but also risk the life of residents as the heavy rains continue to pound.

They said that since they heavy rains began, they have not received support from both the county and national government despite the high-ranking government making sites visit.

They claim that Ruto led administration have blatantly ignored they plea for material support.

“Since they rain started no government official has supported in one way or another,we are on our own,they come here and ordered us to vacated the place where we have lived for years,we will leave this place even if it wadding through the water we will wade.”A resident stated.

Some other residents argued that the swelling Ngong River is a seasonal phenomenon that does not warrant forceful eviction.

The Ministry of Interior and National Coordination last week issued a strict notice of the evacuation person occupying riparian land.
