Kariuki was charged with supplying the National Cereals Produce Board(NCPB) with substandard fertilizer.
Kariuki was charged with forgery, where is accused of forging an agreement of value adding animals supplements purporting to be a genuine agreement signed by SBL Innovate Manufacturers and African Diatormite Limited.
He was further charged with applying standardization mark to commodity that does not meet the Kenyan standards .
In court the the SBL proprietor was charged with with making misleading labels, the prosecution averred that Kariuki made a counterfeit libel to wit the original brand on the bags containing soil with the intent to defraud Kenyans,

Through his lawyers, Kariuki applied to be released on bond terms, an application that the prosecution vehemently opposed.
After protracted submission and rebattle from defense and prosecution, the presiding Magistrate Honorable Azis Okore scheduled the ruling for bail application for tomorrow, 7th May 2024
