Kenyan international Michael Olunga scored a brace to help his side Al Duhail come from behind and eliminate defending champions Al Arabi 3-2, securing a spot in the semi-final of the Emir Cup.

The Harambee Stars captain was alos on the score sheet last week, where he scored once to help Al Duhail sail into the quarter-final, showcasing his quality once again on Monday.

Tunisian winger Youssef Msakni opened the scoring for Al Arabi just three minutes into the match, but Olunga equalized five minutes later.

Msakni then restored Al Arabi’s lead two minutes after Olunga’s goal, making it 2-1 in favor of the visitors. However, Al Duhail intensified their efforts after the break, with former Liverpool player Philipe Coutinho scoring his second goal and Olunga third in the 59th minute.

Christophe Galtier’s men managed to hold on to their lead, claiming the win and a place in the semi-final.

This result is significant for Al Duhail, who are looking to finish the season with some silverware after a disappointing campaign.

They failed to defend their league crown and exited the Asian Champions League at the group stage. The Emir Cup represents their only chance to win a trophy this season, a stark contrast to their brilliant 2022-23 season, where they claimed three trophies and reached the Champions League semi-final.
