  • Five shot people shot as Police wrestle thieves in a fierce gun fire in Mowlem .

Five are nursing gun wounds at Mama Lucy Hospital  after being shot by police  in a fierce exchange of gunfire with suspected criminals in Mowlem area.

According to Buruburu Police Commander Francis Kamau ,they were hurt by stray bullets when the police were battling three  criminals who were also retaliating.

According to police report the gang was in the process of committing a crime when they were accosted by the officers.

“We received a distress call from members of the public that robbers have attacked them and were stealing.When my officers arrived they found them armed and resistant.Then we had a shootout.This is when some members of the public were caught up in the cross fire ..but they are stable at Mama Lucy hospital.We shot one of the thugs but two escaped..” Kamau said.

“It is a notorious gang and we shall catch up with them we managed to arrest one whom we shall charge with robbery with violence.We have also intensified the investigation process to unearth all their activities and accomplices.” Kamau added.

Mowlem Residents Reactions

Meanwhile the police has been accused of desperately defending an officer who shot the  residents and that the incident was no accidental.

According to them the  said officer opened fire to everyone around him after he realized that he shot someone who was innocent.” Sam Kayo said.

Same we echoled by Dan Kariuki who blamed the officer for not caring about the public.

“Amezoea  polisi mmoja tu anatumia bunduki kama mwiko alikua amepiga risasi mtu innocent ndio akaanza kufyatya risasi ovyo ovyo, Bunduki ni mwiko ama yeye ndio cousin ya Ruto.tumejua mambo yake alitolewa huko Kakmkunji akapelekwa kule Kinyago police station ameanza kutua sasa atoke an aende kabisa,sio kumaliza sisi raia.” Kariuki said.
