Police in Korogocho, Ruaraka Subcounty are investigating an incident where a human chopped leg was found floating on Nairobi River on Tuesday 18th April 2023.
The body parts were found by youths who were taking up routine clean up exercise in the river
The area senior Chief Nashon Opiyo says that they are yet to establish how the leg ended up in the river.
According to Opiyo the decomposing leg had stayed in water for quite some time and had even changed its colour to white.
The administrator told Ghetto Radio that police have intensified search for the missing body parts even as they probe what could have led to such grievous injuries.
“Efforts to recover the other missing body parts are ongoing as we investigate the incident. It is pure murder,” he said.
The efforts by Ghetto Radio to get more details from the chief were futile as calls went unanswered.
The incident happens days three days after a human head and hands were found dumped in a water canal in Koyole area.
In the Kayole incident, the unidentified man hand deep cuts in head and hands as the other body parts were missing.
Nairobi County police commander Adamson Bungei stated that absence of the blood stains at the scene was a projection that the man had been killed somewhere before they dumped the body parts.
Kayole residents condemned the incident calling for quick intervention from the police.
“We want the government to improve security in this area because such things are bringing tension in this area,” said one resident.
“We want the government to investigate this matter and take stern action against the perpetrators,” said another resident.
