Tonnes of plastic garbage have collected from Ololua forest in Kajiado during a clean-up initiative conducted by an organization known as Resolution Net zero to mark the World Environment Day.
Resolution Net Zero CEO Some Edwin stated that the plastic garbage they collected had been swept from Ngong area to the Ololua forest.
Edwin says that the collection of the plastic garbage was Net Zero’s initiative to mark the World Environment Day.
“We are here at Ololua forest to collect plastic garbage that was dragged by water from Ngong area to this forest in Kajiado County,” said Edwin.
He has in the meantime urged Kenyans to use appropriate means to dispose plastic waste following the harm that they cause to the environment.
“I want to advise Kenyans to use appropriate methods in disposing plastic materials since plastics are so harmful to our ecosystem since they don’t decompose,” said Some Edwin.

Indigenous Trees Planted
Resolution Net Zero also planted more than 500 indigenous trees at Ololua forest.
Ololua forest management has in the meantime applauded the move saying that it will save the forest which was partially grabbed by individuals.
” This forest is on a 1,700 acre piece of land before some people had grabbed it but we are in the process of reclaiming it back and we thank everyone who participated in tree planting and in collecting plastic garbage,” said Christopher Mureithi chairperson of community forest association of Ololua forest.
World environment Day is celebrated on June 5 annually to raise awareness and encourage action for the protection of the planet.
