Miraa traders among other small  business people in Westlands whose business structures were demolished by Nairobi County Government askaris will today hold demonstrations in Nairobi Central District.

The traders accused Nairobi City County Government for demolishing their business structures without notice and destruction of their goods and properties.

“Mimi hustle yangu ni pale Ring road Westy nauza miraa tuko na temporary stall hizo area makanjo walikam wakabomoa kila kitu bila notice vitu zetu zikabebwa na kupelekwa Cityhall …hata kama walitaka kubomoa mbona hawakutuambia tutoe vitu zetu.Hizi impunity za Kanjo lazima ziishe gavana yetu alitupromise ataprotect business zetu I don’t know what happened..watu wake wanatudhulumu.” One of the traders told Ghetto Radio News.

“Mimi nilikua nauza gold ring road nilikua na kibanda hapo lakini vile Kanjo walikam walitubomolea na vitu zetu kuchukuliwa sio poa Sakaja amewacha mahawkers kuhutle ndani ya CBD mbona sisi tudhulumiwe.” Another trader said.

The traders will first converge at the historical Jivanjee gardens before proceeding to governor offices at City hall Building to present their demands.

“Purpose of this letter is to request your office to provide security as we hold our peaceful match to present our memorandum to the governor our match will start at Jivanjee Gardens  on Monday 19th June 2023 starting from 9.00 am then through Cardinal Otunga Plaza the lastly to County Government of Nairobi offices.This will help us get audience with the office of governor  on the plight of westlands market traders and hawkers.” Notice to Central Police Station OCS reads.
