FC Barcelona have reportedly removed Dani Alves from their official list of club legends after his conviction for rape.

The club is yet  to issue a statement on the removal of Alves from their litany of legendary players.

According to  Diario AS,  Barcelona have reacted to Alves’ sentence by removing him from their official list of club legends.

The list of club legends has a total of 102 players including club founder Joan Gamper and Lionel Messi. Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique were the most recent players to be inducted, with Alves’ name no longer appearing in that section on the club’s official website

Residents in his native Brazilian state of Bahia have called for his statute in juazeiro which has already been vandalized to be removed .

Dani Alves In Barcelona

Alves arrived in Barcelona in 2008 and would stay until 2016, scooping up every trophy available to him.

Alves made over 400 appearances with the Blaugrana. As stated, he won well over 20 trophies with Barcelona.

For a time, Alves emerged as the player with the most trophies in the world. title.

The former full-back also played for Sevilla, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, while winning 126 caps for Brazil at international level. Alves was on the books of Mexican club PUMAS when he was initially arrested in January 2023, and his contract was immediately terminated.

The three-judge panel sentenced Alves to four years, six months.

State prosecutors had sought a nine-year prison sentence for Alves while the lawyers representing his accuser wanted 12 years
