A Kenya Air force Huey Helicopter  crashed on Monday during a night patrol in Lamu ,
According to a statement from KDF on Tuesday, the crew and other military personnel were on board a Kenya Air
Force Huey Helicopter when the unfortunate accident occurred.

“The crew and other military personnel onboard were part of an air surveillance squadron intensifying day and night patrols and surveillance for the ongoing Operation Amani Boni,” said KDF.

KDF further sent their condolences to the families of the deceased

‘The leadership and entire KDF fraternity condoles with the families of the crew” further read the statement

Meanwhile, a board of inquiry has since been  dispatched to the scene to establish the cause of the crash.

The KDF has not disclosed the number of officers who died from the crash.

Cs Kindiki Lamu Visit

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki recently visited  Lamu County to address a raft of security matters, after a spate of terror attacks in the county.

The CS on his 13th September 2023,  visit officially opened Lamu East Sub-County Headquarters and held a briefing session with the Coast Regional, Lamu County, and Lamu East Sub-County Security and Intelligence Committees.

KDF condemns criminal activities

KDF immediately condemned the criminal activities that have been disrupting movement and sabotage of socio-economic stability in Lamu County.

In statement shared on X the security agency  called upon residents to share information with relevant security agencies on any suspicious persons and any criminal activity in efforts to improve security in the region.

Tourism stakeholders have also decried the attacks expressing concerns that they may impact negatively the tourism sector.
