Hundreds of people whose homes were demolished in Mukuru Kwa Njenga are demanding for compensation.
The evictees claims they were duped by cartels who purported to be their representatives.
Three years after structures were demolished in Mukuru kwa Njenga slum to pave the way for the expansion of Catherine Ndereba Road, some of the displaced families still live in tents in the contested land.
Bari Ali, one of the victims, said she is lucky to have her son she was not her son Abdi lucky alive. Abdi was shot in the chest.
“Hundreds of police arrived with trucks that shot water cannons at people.” She said.
Bari says Abdi was on his way back home from tuition when he was caught up in the clashes between the police and the residents.
“We want the court to take up proceedings on compensation due to us for the damage occasioned by the unlawful eviction from our property,”says a victim.
The families said eviction regulations were not strictly followed.
