Principal Secretary State Department for Public Health & Professional Standards Mary Muthoni today held a meeting to improve partnerships to fortify Universal Health Coverage efforts among citizens.

Through her twitter account ,she said that the main purpose of the meeting is to explore more strategic partnerships to advance Universal Health Coverage(UHC) in Kenya.

”This afternoon ,i had a meeting with the CEOs of Kenya Medical Training College and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council and Mr.Gerald ,Managing Director of Equity Bank.The purpose was to explore strategic partnerships to advance Universal Health Care (UHC) in Kenya.”She wrote.

This comes after President William Ruto signed into law The Social Health Insurance Bill.

Those who attended the meeting were the CEOs of Kenya Medical  Training College,Dr.Kelly Oluoch and Dr.David Gicheru Kariuki the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council and Mr.Gerald Warui, Managing Director of Equity Bank.

Key areas for potential collaborations

Some of the main key areas of the meeting that they discussed are ;

1.Expanding healthcare access through Equity Afya clinics.

2.Promoting environment sustainability.

3.Creating innovative programs for student placements.

4.Launching initiatives to enhance financial literacy among medical students and staff.

Recent Activities

Principal Secretary of the State Department of Public Health also met with The Tobacco Control Board led by Hon.Naomi Shaaban yesterday  to address significant issues.

Their meeting was centered on the need for legislative amendments to grant the board the autonomy necessary for more effective regulation of tobacco related issues.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of fostering strategic partnerships and collaborations to enhance the board’s capabilities and influence in the realm of tobacco control.
