A school and a church have been burnt in a fire incident that happened in Olympics area in Kibera Sub-County.
Victoria Children Church Center and the church are among the hundreds of structures that were burnt in the fire tragedy.
Sam Omondi a teacher at Victoria Children Center told Ghetto Radio that when they got reports that the school was burning, they rushed to the scene only to find the institution burning.
“We got information that our school was burning we rushed in a bid to salvage some items only to find some desks, book and other stationaries burning into ashes,” said teacher Omondi.

Emergency Response
According to Omondi the Nairobi county emergency response team arrived late at the scene after neighbours and well-wishers had put off the fire.
“Nairobi emergency response team arrived very late when he had already put off the fire. Since this is an estate and no one wanted the fire to spread so much over fear of causing more damages,” he added.
This has happened barely one day after Toi market in Kibera was torched down by fire and in both cases fire fighters have been arriving late at the scene.
Residents now want a fire station to be established around Kibera.
