Vybz Kartel and his co-accused Shawn Campbell, Andre St. John and Kahira Jones have crossed their fingers while ready for the final appeal set for February 14 and 15. The trio are looking forward to a fair appeal before the UK Privy Council.
Kartel’s attorney, Isat Buchanan and others representing the co-accused are challenging the March 13, 2014 conviction for the murder of ally Clive Williams popularly known as Lizard.
In solidarity, the appellants are pushing the appeal on several grounds concerning the evidence by the prosecution.

The judge’s decision to proceed with the case after the realization that one juror had bribed others and how he handled the whole situation is also coming up.
According to the prosecution, Kartel and his co-accused murdered Lizard on August 16, 2011 after he failed hand back two unlicensed firearms to Kartel.
Later on, Lizard disappeared without a trace. His family would later affirm that he was at Kartel’s house.
Mobile Phone Evidence
The prosecution relied heavily on the evidence taken from the appellants smartphones. The defense lawyers had argued that the data obtained from the cell phones was in breach of the Interception of Communication Act.
Their fundamental right to protection of privacy of communication which is a constitutional right was also breached.

However, the trial judge had continued used the phone.
With everything in top gear, Kartel’s lawyer and the other other representing the appellants are optimistic for the best outcome.
